KG is gone, it's over. I think that I've come to terms with this...but I haven't. It probably won't hit me until the regular season starts, or until I go to my first game this year and don't hear "from Farragut Academy...", or until I finally get the courage to watch him play for Boston (I don't know if this will ever happen, too heartbreaking). The national media doesn't know how hard of a blow this is to the local basketball community. They say things like "People should be happy that he finally has a chance to get a ring." or "It was time for the T-Wolves to move on" or my favorite "The trade will help both teams in the long run." With all that being said, it's going to take a few years for the franchise to recover, essentially in the West. KG will be missed, I just hope that somehow the franchise survives, and eventually turns this thing around.
Now that that is out of the way, something hit me last night (after seeing that the Ricky Davis trade had gone through), look at our potential starting lineup:
PG: Randy Foye
SG: Rashad McCants
SF: Corey Brewer
PF: Al Jefferson
C: Wayne Simien
With Green and Gomes off the bench.
That's not too shabby, well, at least it won't be in a couple of years if everything else shakes out. See, who we have now isn't what scares me, it's where we're going in the future. This team is full of young talent, and in the next couple of years will be well under the cap. McHale is going to have alot of decisions to make in the near future, and that's not exactly a good thing. Hanging on to these young studs could be tough to. If progress isn't made in the next two years, these guys might start jumping ship for warmer pastures.
I'm excited for the year to start so we can at least see the hand we have been delt. Let me know what you think about this years team, the KG and Ricky Davis deals, and anything else on your mind by either sending me an email at TheMinnesotaSportsGuy@gmail.com or by sounding off on the message board:

Tyler,
Simien won't see much time on the floor, and he definitely won't be starting ... he's not taking any minutes away from Craig Smith.
As for the site -- you seem to be a passionate fan, and you've got strong amateur writing skills. I wouldn't go so far as to compare yourself to Simmons (he's got a pretty unique style that's tough to emulate), but you'll do all right if you work on developing your own style.
I applaud you having the initiative to get this up and running. Don't get discouraged if takes a while to develop a readership. You've got to keep plugging away with the blogs and posts and advertising your site wherever you can.
Final note, you might want to check on the "Minnesota Sports Guy" gimmick. I could be way off base, but you've got to be careful of copyright infringement, especially if you're advertising as someone "like Simmons without the Boston slant." I could be wrong, but I'd hate to see you get shut down over something silly when you just got started.
Good luck with your site, man!
Moshier,
Thank you for the encouragement, As far as the whole Simmons thing goes, I was simply making a basic comparison in order to get people to take a look.
That lineup is how I see the starting lineup a year or two down the line. I think Smith is a good player, but nothing more that a rebound/defense role player. If Simien develops like I hope he will, he could make a nice front-court counterpart to Jefferson. We'll see what happens.
